Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults
ESG Security have long-term relationships in the education sector, with schools, as well as further and higher education colleges. In recent years we have seen an increase in queries from the education sector, about what level of checks our officers undertake.
All officers will have a standard DBS check, as part of their Security Industry Authority (SIA), licence application. A security licence cannot be obtained without this check.
A standard DBS check shows details of all cautions, warnings and reprimands as well as spent and unspent convictions on an individual’s record. A standard DBS check does not include additional information, held by police such as interviews and allegations.
Enhanced DBS check
Many schools now ask that officers sent to their premises, undertake an enhanced DBS check, to comply with Ofsted guidelines. An enhanced DBS check shows details of all cautions, warning and reprimands as well as spent and unspent convictions on an individual’s record. An enhanced DBS check will also include additional information, held by police such as interviews and investigations.
